in 2020, DAEM released a custom collection with the Estate of Jean-Michel Basquiat.
With DAEM and Basquiat’s shared roots in Brooklyn, the collection marks a fusion of art and cultural storytelling to create a never-before-seen collaboration in design. Each component, color, and cut was chosen specifically to reflect Basquiat’s own journey to becoming “made.”
It pays homage to the social issues Basquiat examined through his art in the 80s – many of which are still deeply rooted in society.
I was asked to lead the direction and design of the project. Below are photos of the final product along with Photoshop mockups.
